President
John launched Blackfin in 2006 to serve property managers and owners by recruiting and developing building engineers to operate and maintain commercial buildings.  John’s background in architectural engineering and operating buildings for a Fortune 100 company gave him insight into operations, maintenance and how impactful expense control enhances building value.

Scott Ullrich, EMP
Director of Support & Solutions
As a mechanical engineer managing field engineers for a global HVAC company and experience with a national building automation firm, Scott can quickly identify building problems and work with our building engineers to resolve them. Scott has managed our field engineers since 2020 and has brought a wealth of expertise that have led to improved service quality and business practices.

Brian Krewson
Director of Kansas City Operations
Brian manages our Kansas City team and has been with Blackfin since 2008. His experience is invaluable for delivering great service. That experience is baked into how we hire, develop and support our entire field team and created a culture that attracts and retains top talent.


Brian Carneal
Director of Training & Development
Brian Carneal joined Blackfin in 2010 and implemented our safety and technical training platform. Brian also works with Brian Krewson and Scott Ullrich for management, people development and compliance for the entire company.


Justin Bearden
Director of Field Operations
Justin began as our engineer in the Tallahassee VA clinic in 2016 and began applying his experience working with complex building systems, the VA and Joint Commission company-wide to support Blackfin building engineers across the company. Justin’s attention to detail and focus on quality is a crucial role to ensure compliance and quality outcomes.


Teresa Kilburn
Director of Administration
Teresa joined Blackfin in 2024 after spending 23 years in accounting, finance as well as being involved in just about every aspect of a growing company. Teresa has brought that wealth of experience and creativity to us and is a key member of our management team.
